»I have always drawn the cities I have lived in ... Paris, Florence, Dresden. According to Italo Calvino, there are different kinds of cities, amongst others "The cities which through the years and transformations continue to give their shape to desires" . This is exactly how I have experienced Dresden through its history and architectural diversity, right from the first time I visited the city until today. Dresden Altstadt, as seen in photographs taken from the Neustadt Elbe river banks, is the most common point of departure for my work.«

The exhibited works mirror the approach of the artist, which is the continual documentation of her own personal discoveries in the city through the lens of her camera, followed by a reinterpretation through painting. The public is invited to spend the first minutes identifying the painted fragments in the photographs, before then discovering the photographic fragments on the canvas. The colours which have been used – blue, white, black, ochre – are characteristic of a long season of particular emotional intensity: winter. The interpretation of the visitors is, however, not specified. The choice of format (triptych, an ensemble of 6 pictures, …) allows the visitor to continually re-interpret and re-compose the fragments. A triptych tells, for example, of the co-existence of religions within one and the same city (Catholicism and Protestantism), in the form of a winged alter.
